This is another example of HBCC-3022 of somewhat inferior quality, although probably a slightly impaired Proof, despite light polishing. This is from the famous Eliasberg Collection, where the coin was graded Proof-55. Formerly from the Collections of Elmer Sears and John Clapp as well as Louis Eliasberg, this coin was specifically described as a Proof by Walter Breen in his Encyclopedia of United States and Colonial Proof Coins. Just two other Proofs are known, according to Breen, including an example in the Smithsonian Institution and another from the Emerson Gaylord Collection.

Provenance:
From the Bowers and Ruddy Galleries sale of the Louis Eliasberg Collection, October 1982, Lot 92. Earlier from the John Clapp Collection and earlier still from Elmer S. Sears, April 1926.
